History

The history behind 8DIO

8DIO (pronounced: AIT-DEE-o) was founded in 2011 by Academy Award Winning, TEC/Mix Foundation, GANG and D3 award winning  composer and producer, Troels Folmann and Tawnia Knox. Troels Folmann has a background in academia being a Ph.D. scholar in adaptive music for video games. Troels first got known for his music for Tomb Raider series, but has later composed for a variety of other larger franchises like Transformers, Need For Speed and over 500 blockbuster trailers. Tawnia has a business background with over 20 years experience in the retail, marketing, PR in the cosmetic and movie industry.

August 2011 8DIO launched with over 40 deep-sampled products ranging from the most epic choirs- and percussion in the industry to a wide selection of emotional percussion, solo vocals, new hybrid scoring tools etc. 8DIO products are featured in the majority of current blockbusters (ex. Avatar, Hunger Games, Dark Knight Trilogy, Transformers Series, Saving Mr. Banks, District 9, Thor, Elysium), TV-shows (ex. Game of Thrones, Vikings, Dexter, , Grimm, CSI, NCIS, The Following) and video games (ex. World of Warcraft series, Diablo 3, Madden series, COD Series, Starcraft 2, Halo Series, Mass Effect series, Silent Hill series, Need For Speed series, Tomb Raider series, DOTA, Destiny etc) and used by many of the highest profile artists, composers and top 40 producers in the industry (ex. Massive Attack, James Blunt, Britney Spears, Blake Shelton, Stargate (Rihanna, Beyonce, Ne-Yo), Daftpunk, Trentemoeller). 8Dio is also featured in a host of live performances from Saturday Night Live to Broadway, from Idol to Dancing with the Stars etc.
